Je me dis que ces deux images reflètent la complexité du monde, la coexistence du passé et du présent, la simultanéité des événements, le mélange de toutes les images sur les écrans.

Comment de telles images peuvent-elles faire sens ? Parfois elles éclatent de vouloir trop contenir, j'essaie pourtant de maintenir la composition en donnant des repères comme le ciel en haut, mais il a tendance à vouloir se retourner, à ne plus jouer son rôle. Et la terre se dérobe sous les pas.  Je peux indiquer que je m'inspire très vaguement des Riches Heures ou de la Nef des Fous, mais ce lien est quasi invisible.

Je suis assis là, à moitié nu dans mon drap blanc, parmi le brouhaha de cette foule qui va passer sous un pont parisien peint par Van Gogh. Je perçois des paroles proférées par un être sorti d'un cauchemar de Bosch, mais je ne les saisis pas, à cause du bruit ambiant. Je reste impassible. Où va ce voyage ? Je ne sais pas. Là où le courant nous emportera.

Dans l'autre image, je me trouve parmi les gens qui jubilent devant l'objectif d'un smartphone. Une main tente de tourner ma tête dans le bon sens, sans doute pour que fasse bonne figure sur la photo. Mais je regarde ailleurs, hors cadre, on ne sait où, mais en tout cas pas vers les princesses en robe blanche qui se mêlent à la foule joyeuse. J'envie aux poules leur saine indifférence, leur œil rivé sur l'herbe verte qui est bien plus rassurante que la forêt qui s'embrase au fond de l'image, bien qu’il s’agisse évidemment d’une attitude stupide qui risque de leur coûter cher. Mais c’est un moment d’illusion, de tranquillité, de repli sur soi devant l’agitation générale, une concentration sur l’essentiel.

I think that these two images reflect the complexity of the world, the coexistence of the past and the present, the simultaneity of events, the mixing of all images on the screens.

How can such images make sense? Sometimes they burst out of wanting to contain too much, but I try to maintain the composition by giving marks like the sky above, but it tends to want to turn over, to no longer play its part. And the earth hides under the feet. I can say that I am very vaguely inspired by the Rich Hours or the Nave of the Fools, but this link is almost invisible.

am sitting there, half naked in my white cloth, amid the hubbub of this crowd that will pass under a Parisian bridge painted by Van Gogh. I perceive words spoken by a person who came out of a nightmare of Bosch, but I do not grasp them because of the ambient noise. I remain impassive. Where is this trip going? I do not know. Where the current will carry us.

 

In the other image, I find myself among people who jubilate before the lens of a smartphone. A hand tries to turn my head in the right direction, probably to make a good figure in the picture. But I look elsewhere, out of the frame, nobody knows where, but in any case, not towards the princesses in white dress who mingle with the joyful crowd. I envy the chickens their healthy indifference, their eyes riveted on the green grass, which is much more reassuring than the forest which blazes at the background of the image, although it is evidently a stupid attitude which may cost them dearly. But it is a moment of illusion, of tranquility, of withdrawal into oneself in the face of general agitation, a concentration on the essential.
