Should we burn what we created and loved in the past? For me, the answer is not obvious. It is certain that only a few paintings still find full grace in my eyes. I do not deny the others who witness my artistic search. But I no longer love them to the point of wanting to keep them. In a composition in progress, the element that I like best is often an obstacle to the continuation of work. It is in fact a fixing point that focuses the gaze on it and prevents me from going elsewhere in the image. Perhaps some of the paintings have played the same role in my research. So: yes, it is better to burn what keeps us from moving forward, which makes us turn in circles or satisfy ourselves with what is. Make a collage a day and photos prevents the routine, allows unprecedented explorations.

In this picture taken in front of our chimney and then in front of a painting suspended in our veranda which dates from at least 10 years, I both liked the symbolic and formal links between the gesture of the painting and the flames that burn without destroying . That's maybe the best compromise I can reach.

Blog on art, centered on collage. It is meant as a sort of logbook of my creative work.
