In my previous text, I mentioned the difference between collage and photo and I propose to continue the discussion in the form of a dialogue between a photo and a collage having the same subject as a motif.
- I think your collage is much less successful than me, I feel like you're just repeating yourself.
- I find you very interesting, but from there to tell me that my collage is only ironing an old dish ...
- Yes, you see, your collage does not build space, it only sticks a subject on a background - that's not very modern, by the way. In my case, on the other hand, there is no subject in relation to the background.
- No doubt this is true for this collage, but this transparency goes hand in hand with a loss of solidity: the photo becomes ghostly, at the risk of resembling these double-exposed images by the spiritists of the early twentieth century. Who pretended to show ghosts.
"With me, the ghost is you. And is the dissolution in the great whole not your subject?
- That's true, but I also want this material anchoring of the collage. I do not just want to talk about myself, but also comment on current events, express ideas. I'm not sure you can offer me the same range of possibilities. But I will try to make you converge towards collage. And we will see if this gives satisfactory results. So, for now, you will have to cohabit and I hope that you’ll enrich each other in a fruitful dialogue, in a constant emulation.
- I am quite sure of proving my superiority in a striking manner."
Dans mon précédent texte, j’ai évoqué la différence entre collage et photo et je me propose de poursuivre la discussion sous forme de dialogue entre une photo et un collage ayant le même sujet comme motif.
