My latest experience as a photographer during a live performance has been very stimulation for me and my love for photography has grown much stronger than before. In a quite remote past, photography jumped in when I had a lack of inspiration in my art, it was the straw I grasped in my depressive state where I imagined that my inspiration had dried out. Photography was filling the gap, not fundamental per se.
Today inspiration or not is no question anymore, as my collage flow is consistent. But shooting in the streets, in a landscape or at events is even more stimulating than making a collage at times, because the sensations are concentrated in one instant and not diluted in time as in my collage making. And I love doing fast work!
So do I have to choose between those two activities? The answer is clearly no. Anyway, my recent collages have more to do with photography than before. They are photomontages and not so much “collages”, or at least somewhere in between. Here’s the compromise:
I’ll go on with both techniques and give them an equal importance in my everyday work.
