I sometimes wonder what is the point of making collages day after day. And it's hard to respond. On a general level, I would say, by referring to Serge Tisseron, it is an attempt to appropriate a sea of images that overwhelms me. On a more personal level, I think it is a way to trace the images embedded in my memory or a combination described in the Freudian interpretation of dreams. The collages that comment our world are also an important part of my work. Indeed, I frequently see around me a certain youth not interested in what our generation would pass, and seems not to want another "history" than its own, arguing that anyway, we missed everything and it is better to make a clean sweep. It is this breaking idea that inspired me this collage. Besides, in my collages, all images are equal, whether a reproduction of a painting, a field of ruins, a mountain scape, a person or an ad. It is in their interaction that raises a new sense, by their juxtaposition. But it is indeed a broken mirror and one would look in vain for a similar image as the Raft of the Medusa or the Liberty Leading the People e.g. The movie only seems to give the same coherence, provided to enter time in the reading of the image. Besides, I try myself to include zooming or traveling in some of my pictures in order to boost reading. The present collage is a little melancholic, it deals with human folly: the wick is already lit and the last animal disappears into the pile of rubble. Fortunately, the mountain seems eternal blue skies, even if it raises and sometimes reverses as in Nepal.

Ruines

Blog on art, centered on collage. It is meant as a sort of logbook of my creative work.
