I am still puzzled, but I see a drift from illustration to form and composition. This is the work that has to be done in order to create a "strong" picture. It means a lot of experimentation and questioning but I feel it rewarding. Since I am focusing on collage only, I work harder on them, as I did on my paintings. A "lucky" strike - a collage that is done in a second - is very rare now. Which doesn't mean that they are worse or better than before. They are differently done. That's all. And I am happy with that.

Thinking more about that collage, I discover the double face, which is echoed by the double letters of the brand. This reminds me of one of my first paintings when I was 16: a double head in blue-green. And I can go on further with the number 2: naked vs. clad, coloured vs. b&w, displayed vs. hidden, neat vs. ragged etc. So, after all, my collage is quite sphisticated too.

This post is from june, but a technical problem erased my pictures and posts of june-july. As I feel that this collage is very important for its process, I need it here among the other posts.

It is true that I am trying to get further in my art. This needs much energy because it is difficult to cross a border. So the pictures reflect my struggle for an evolution of my art. I don't know if it is visible in my recent collages, but I am looking for a more dynamic intrication of forms, more freedom in association. For ex. in "Sumo", I actually started with an idea of to combined heads, one devouring the other (not displayed here), two bits of paper. I than fell on the ad with the open mouth and initially wanted to develop this idea. But then... So what directs me is the opportunity, I don't stick to my first idea, if I discover something "better", I'll take it. That's what happened. But later, when I worked on the body (bodies), the face looked too dominant, too static. That's why I had to modify it.
When I teach art students, I always tell them to "destroy" the spot they like the most when they get blocked. The result is generally spectacular, giving them a new impulse. The least I can do is applying the same to myself.

My dear Inreb,
Thank you for your criticism. I feel that you are fundamentally right, but that your tend to exaggerate a little bit on behalf of my paintings. In my blog I discuss a painting from 2000 which is still quite honorable in my opinion. But the paint in it is more liberated than in some newer paintings. I'll reflect on it and stick to collage for a while.
Best regards, dear alter ego,
Well, I feel that I should make some remarks on this.
I would like to state that I esteem my collages very highly. I just mean that conventional buyers around here (Europe) aren't attracted to collage. I acknoledge the fact, that's all. As for selling my works and getting rich by them, maybe I have dreamed about it in my jounger years, but I am now more on : What you own will be lost one day. The most important thing in my eyes is to continue my work and to share it with those who appreciate it.
This in order to clarify my point of view. The world of money-making just doesn't interest me. I didn't get the gene from my parents. I prefer to live in the kingdom of fantasy.
