In the morning, I began to assemble the background of this collage, but I do not know where I was going to. What struck me is the light coming from the bottom.
Then we went to the movies, my wife and I, to see Haneke's film Love. Leaving the film, I was shaken, thinking about the years to come and insecurity of old age. Then I tried to return to normal.
Just before I got to bed, I glanced at the picture and I took a fragment of a photo of walking people photographing and it was a revelation. I immediately made the connection with the idea of death, even though I am not a believer, it is a representation found in NDEs and especially in J.Bosch and has a great evocative power. The fact that the characters are trying to photograph this glare is undoubtedly an illustration at absurdo of the attempt to capture the ineffable that resonates with Jewish wisdom.
I am aware of the beauty and power of this evocation and feel happy to have been able to create this image amidst such a flood of collages.
Actually, I was wondering if it led me into shallow waters, when I found this gold nugget.
And the devil whispers to me: What if it was your latest discovery? Vade retro, continuing my work, I shall end by finding a few other wonders.

Le matin, j’avais commencé à assembles le fond de ce collage, mais je ne savais pas ce que j’allais y mettre. Ce qui m’avait frappé, c’est la lumière venant du fond.
Puis nous sommes allés au cinéma, ma femme et moi, voir le film de Haneke : Amour. En sortant du film, j’ai été secoué, pensant aux années à venir et à la précarité de la vieillesse. Puis j’ai essayé de revenir à la normale.
Juste avant d’aller me coucher, j’ai jeté un regard sur ce fond et j’ai pris ce bout de photo de gens marchant en photographiant et cela a été la révélation. J’ai immédiatement fait le lien avec l’idée de la mort, même si je ne suis absolument pas croyant, c’est une représentation qu’on trouve dans les NDE et, surtout, chez J.Bosch et qui est d’une grande puissance évocatrice. Le fait que les personnages soient en train de photographier cette lumière éblouissante est sans doute une illustration par l’absurde de la tentative de capter/capturer l’indicible qui résonne avec la sagesse juive.
Je suis conscient de la beauté et de la force de cette évocation et me sens heureux d’avoir su créer une telle image dans un tel flot de collages.
Justement, je me demandais si celui-ci me menait en eaux superficielles, là j’ai trouvé une pépite d’or.
Et le diable me murmure à l’oreille : Et si c’était ta dernière trouvaille ? Vade retro, en continuant mon labeur, je finirai bien par trouver encore quelques merveilles.
