I’m on a series of self-portraits as photomontages. What interests me is being able to compose directly during the shooting. Thus I can superimpose different plans as I wish. Using the self-portrait as a guideline allows me to work on a phenomenon that I have been experiencing over the last few years: aging. It is like a return to the clay of which we are supposed to have emerged. This decomposition of my face presages an ultimate transformation that can assume many forms. I can even conceive through these images a kind of survival, numberless avatars. They may be pictures of modesty - I'm getting old, I'm going to become earth... or of pride: I'm going to survive, I'm in the center of creation, even if it's only a small square of soil. And I catch all kinds of expressions that I would probably never see without this subterfuge. Often the composition is made from a banal pattern that I photograph, then I turn the camera against me to take my face, estimating the inclination of the objective pointed at me.

However, the collage remains to me indispensable to comment on the world, to situate myself in acting on the images without any hindrance. Often my collages can cause uneasiness by the violence of the twists I inflict on the bodies, but the expression is at this price, I believe, and I am following in this my master Picasso.

My first tests date from November 2016, during a coaching of a student who was making double exposures with a Lomo. I wanted to try it out and my first trials impressed me to the point of adopting this technique. For a long time, I have picked up blurred reflections in windows, often of myself. Multiple exposure allows me to deepen this technique which is similar to collage: it is as if my collages were melting more, that the joints became less visible. As a result the image becomes more unified and the viewer has less recomposition work to do. As I also try other compositions at a glance it marks my return to the street! But above all, it is playful and spontaneous. There is no planning. Rather a red thread that goes from one shot to another.
